EGHE AD 2.20  LOCAL AERODROME REGULATIONS

1  Airport Regulations
  1. Flight Plans should be filed for all flights to and from Scilly Isles/St Mary's aerodrome.

  2. Non-radio aircraft not accepted.

  3. General Aviation parking on grass only NE of Runway 14.

  4. Access from/to GA parking shall be via Exit/Entry gates along boundary fence. Telephone for transport available on front of Fire Station building, or walk via perimeter track around aerodrome to Terminal Building.

  5. High Visibility Clothing mandatory with exception of passengers under escort.

2  Ground Movement

Not applicable

3  CAT II/III Operations

Not applicable

4  Warnings
  1. Pilots should exercise extreme caution when landing or taking-off at this aerodrome, which is markedly hump-backed. The gradients increase to as much as 1 in 13 at runway ends.

  2. A perimeter road runs around the northern part of the aerodrome and the vehicular traffic is liable to cross the approach to Runway 14.

  3. Locally based aircraft activity may take place outside of published hours, also SAR aircraft, air ambulance and Trinity House Helicopters.

  4. Runway 14 PAPI signals are visible to the east of the runway extended centre-line where normal obstacle clearance is not guaranteed. They should only be used when the aircraft is aligned with the runway.

  5. Pilots of aircraft are cautioned to exercise great care when using the Runway 32 end turning circle due to the reduced clearance to the south-south-east where a granite outcrop inhibits the provision of normal taxiway clearances; consequently the reverse turn to line-up on Runway 32 should be commenced as soon as is practicable.

  6. Turbulence and/or windshear may affect the final half mile of approaches to all runways and may be increased by valley effect and/or structures when using Runways 09, 14 or 27.

  7. Buildings 28 FT AAL adjacent to the northeast boundary.
Building (Lgtd) 37 FT AAL adjacent to the northwest boundary.

  8. Footpath crosses the Runway 32 turning circle controlled by traffic lights, pedestrians liable to cross the undershoot.

  9. Outside operational hours ATZ may be activated without notice to accommodate SAR and Air Ambulance Flights with an Air Ground Service provided.

EGHE AD 2.22  FLIGHT PROCEDURES

1  Land’s End RMZ
  1. Passenger carrying flights operating between Land’s End Airport, Penzance Heliport, Tresco Heliport and Scilly Isles / St Mary's Aerodrome operate within airspace designated as an RMZ centred on a direct track from Land’s End to Scilly Isles from the SFC to 4000 FT ALT. Pilots intending to transit the Land’s End RMZ must comply with section 2 below.

  2. Pilots intending to transit the Land’s End RMZ must contact either Culdrose ATC on 134.055, Land’s End ATC on 120.255 MHz (if approaching from the east) or St Mary’s ATC on 124.880 MHz (if approaching from the west), prior to entering. Pilots of aircraft transiting the Culdrose AIAA should contact Culdrose ATC on 134.055 (Refer to AD 2-EGHC-3-1).

  3. Aircraft operating under VFR may be asked to follow the Northern (R252 LND) route according to traffic and/or weather conditions in the Land’s End RMZ.

2  Land’s End RMZ requirements

For flight within the Land’s End RMZ aircraft commanders must comply with one of the following:

  1. Establish satisfactory two-way RTF communication with and pass pertinent flight details to ATC prior to entering the Land’s End RMZ and maintain two-way communication with ATC whilst operating within the Land’s End RMZ.

  2. Conduct flight in accordance with valid Letter of Agreement.

  3. Conduct flight in accordance with agreed tactical arrangements with either Land’s End ATC or St Mary’s ATC.

3  Instrument Approach Procedures
  1. Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP) for this aerodrome are established outside controlled airspace. See ENR 1.5.

4  Visual Reference Points (VRP)
  1. Details of VRPs are available in the consolidated 'Visual Reference Points List' published on the 'Digital Dataset' page of the NATS AIS website, www.nats.aero/ais.
